PRESENTATION: The piece arrives in William’s mailbox at the beginning of Open Enrollment. When he opens it, a faux “dollar bill” flutters out with an intriguing amount of money on it.

VERSUS TELLING

William’s Employees Benefits Guide is 42 pages long. On page 29, there’s a small call-out box that mentions a potential money-saving opportunity. (Will William make it to page 29?)

OUR DIFFERENCE IS SHOWING

THE BOTTOM LINE: “William, you will save $392.20 in plan premiums if you simply pick Plan B instead of staying in Plan A.”

VERSUS TELLING

“You might be able to save money by choosing the right health plan for you. Other people did.”

OUR DIFFERENCE IS SHOWING

THE BIG PICTURE: If William doesn’t trust the math that says he could save $392.20, he can flip to the back of the piece, which lists out all of the calculations: his medical expenses, deductible, and all else.

VERSUS TELLING

William would have to do the math alone to figure out how much he would save - and even if he has all of his records in order, it’s not straight arithmetic, with deductibles and coinsurance involved. Chances are that William won’t do the math.
